Introduction
My wife first came across Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng through social media, where its balcony overlooking Park Hyatt Saigon appeared repeatedly in travel videos. Having previously stayed at another M Village property, we were curious to see whether the more premium Signature brand would deliver a different experience.
We eventually booked the Deluxe Balcony City View Room for our two-night stay in April 2026, hoping the balcony and city views would justify the higher room rate. In this review, I will share what the hotel does well, where it falls short, and whether I think it is worth booking for your next visit to Ho Chi Minh City.
Hotel Location
One of Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng's biggest strengths is its location. Situated directly opposite Park Hyatt Saigon along one of District 1's most prestigious streets, the hotel places you in one of Ho Chi Minh City's liveliest neighbourhoods. Surrounded by restaurants, cafés and luxury hotels, it is an excellent base for travellers who want to stay right in the city centre.
During our stay, we found ourselves walking almost everywhere. Cheese Coffee, Thai Cong Café, a GS25 convenience store and several restaurants, including El Gaucho and Hoa Tuc, were all just a few minutes away, while Nguyen Hue Walking Street was around a 10-minute walk from the hotel. Grab rides were also easy to get, although heavy traffic during peak hours is simply part of staying in central Ho Chi Minh City.
As expected of a city-centre hotel, the neighbourhood is lively throughout the day. While some travellers may prefer a quieter environment, I actually enjoyed relaxing on our balcony during sunset, watching the evening rush hour unfold below. If your priority is staying within walking distance of excellent cafés, restaurants and some of District 1's most popular attractions, I think Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng offers one of the best boutique hotel locations in the city.
Check-In Experience
We arrived at the hotel around 3.30 pm, and our room was already ready. The check-in process took no more than five minutes and was smooth and hassle-free.
As expected of a boutique hotel, the lobby was relatively compact but stylishly designed. One of the staff members warmly welcomed us, invited us to take a seat, and completed the check-in process from there. She spoke English well, collected our passports, explained the usual hotel information, and requested a mobile number so the hotel could contact us via WhatsApp during our stay. After receiving our room keys, another staff member kindly delivered our luggage to the room.
Overall, the check-in experience was warm, efficient and exactly what we hoped for. The friendly staff and fuss-free arrival made for a pleasant start to our stay.
Deluxe Balcony City View Room Review
First Impressions
Upon opening the door, I was immediately pleased with what I saw. Having booked the room after seeing the photos on Agoda, I was glad that the room looked exactly as advertised, with no misleading photography or exaggerated expectations. The room was modern, stylish, and thoughtfully designed, giving us confidence that we had made the right choice despite booking only a few days before our trip.
The room is divided into two distinct sections, with the bedroom occupying one side and the bathroom on the other. This layout made the room feel spacious and practical, while allowing natural light from the balcony to brighten the bedroom as soon as we entered.
Room Layout & Design
Although this is not an especially large room, it felt comfortable for two people. The bedroom had enough space for a work desk, an armchair beside the balcony, a built-in wardrobe near the entrance, and sufficient space in front of the bed to store our luggage without feeling cramped.
I also appreciated the thought that had gone into the room's design. While it did not feel particularly luxurious or premium, it had its own boutique charm. One feature that stood out was the uniquely designed bathroom sink, which gave the room a more distinctive character than many standard hotel rooms.
The room was also well equipped for a comfortable stay. We slept well on the comfortable bed, the air-conditioning worked quietly and efficiently, and the soundproofing was surprisingly good. Even though the hotel is located in one of Ho Chi Minh City's busiest neighbourhoods, we could barely hear the traffic once the balcony doors were closed, nor did we hear any noise from neighbouring rooms. Wi-Fi remained reliable throughout our stay, and there were sufficient power sockets around the room, although travellers should note that only local power sockets are available.
Bathroom
The bathroom follows an open-concept design, with the wash basin, toilet and standing shower located on one side of the room without a separating door. While this creates a more spacious feel and works well for couples, it may feel slightly awkward for friends travelling together who prefer greater privacy.
The hotel provides all the usual bathroom amenities, including dental kits, a hair comb, cotton buds and a shower cap. I was also pleasantly surprised to find a shaving kit, which is something not all boutique hotels provide. The shampoo, conditioner, body wash and hand soap are all Signature by M Village-branded and were perfectly adequate for our stay.
Balcony & City View
Without a doubt, the balcony is the highlight of the Deluxe Balcony City View Room and the main reason to book this room category.
Furnished with two chairs and a small table, it provides a comfortable space to step outside and enjoy some fresh air while overlooking one of the most recognisable parts of Ho Chi Minh City. Directly ahead sits Park Hyatt Saigon, while Caravelle Saigon, Hilton Saigon and the surrounding District 1 skyline complete the view.
What I enjoyed most was how the scenery changed throughout the day. During the day, the balcony offers a clear view of the surrounding buildings and the constant movement of the city below. As evening approaches, the skyline gradually begins to light up before transforming into a spectacular night view, with the illuminated hotels standing out beautifully against the dark sky. It was equally enjoyable simply watching the evening rush hour from above, taking in the energy of Ho Chi Minh City while relaxing on the balcony.
One thing I particularly enjoyed was returning to the room at different times of the day. During the afternoon, the balcony overlooked the constant movement of District 1 below. By sunset, the city gradually slowed as the skyline took on a warm golden glow, while night transformed the view completely, with Park Hyatt Saigon, Caravelle Saigon and Hilton Saigon illuminated against the dark sky. It was one of those simple moments that made this stay genuinely memorable.
Although the city's daytime heat meant we did not spend extended periods outside, I could easily imagine enjoying a quiet morning coffee or winding down here after dinner. If you are already paying a premium to stay in this location, I think the balcony is well worth the additional cost.
Is the Deluxe Balcony City View Room Worth Booking?
If your priority is simply having a comfortable place to sleep, I would recommend booking one of the hotel's more affordable room categories instead. The room itself is stylish, practical and comfortable, but it is the balcony that truly sets this room apart.
However, if you enjoy city views and appreciate having your own private outdoor space overlooking District 1, I believe the Deluxe Balcony City View Room is the room to book. Personally, I found the balcony to be the defining feature of our stay and the reason this room stood out from the hotel's standard room categories.
That said, if I were to return in the future, I would probably choose to upgrade further to the Grand Suite, as its floor-to-ceiling windows and panoramic views appear even more impressive. Nevertheless, for travellers seeking a stylish boutique room with one of the best balcony views in central Ho Chi Minh City, I think the Deluxe Balcony City View Room is an excellent choice.
Facilities
As a boutique hotel, Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng offers only a limited selection of facilities compared to larger international hotel chains. There is no swimming pool, gym, executive lounge or on-site restaurant. Instead, the hotel focuses on providing a stylish stay in one of Ho Chi Minh City's best locations.
The only shared facility is a small rooftop garden, which offers guests another place to enjoy the surrounding city views. While it is not a destination in itself, it is a nice addition, particularly for guests staying in room categories without a private balcony.
Personally, I did not feel that the lack of facilities affected our stay. We spent most of our time exploring Ho Chi Minh City, and the hotel's central location meant we were rarely back in the hotel except to rest. Likewise, we never missed having breakfast at the hotel, as there were plenty of cafés and local eateries just a short walk away.
Ultimately, I think it comes down to expectations. If you're looking for a full-service hotel with extensive facilities, you'll probably be happier staying at a larger international hotel. However, if you're specifically looking for a boutique hotel, I don't think the limited facilities should be viewed as a weakness—they're simply part of the boutique hotel experience.
Breakfast & Dining
Unlike many larger hotels, Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng does not have an on-site restaurant or offer a breakfast service. Apart from the complimentary bottled water, tea sachets and instant coffee provided in the room, there are no food and beverage facilities within the hotel.
Personally, this was never an issue during our stay. Ho Chi Minh City is renowned for its vibrant food scene, and we had already planned to explore the city's local eateries rather than dine at the hotel. On one morning, we even took a Grab to enjoy a bowl of bún riêu at a local eatery, which was part of the experience we were looking for.
For guests who prefer a more relaxed morning, there are also plenty of dining options within walking distance of the hotel. Nearby favourites include Hoa Tuc for Vietnamese cuisine, El Gaucho Steakhouse, Thai Cong Café and the cafés around the Park Hyatt Saigon area. With so many restaurants and cafés nearby, finding breakfast or dinner is effortless.
Ultimately, I do not consider the lack of an on-site restaurant to be a drawback. If you are staying at Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng, I would encourage you to take advantage of its excellent location and explore the many cafés and local eateries just outside the hotel instead.
Service
One of the highlights of our stay was the friendly and approachable service. Unlike the polished and more formal style often found at luxury international hotel chains, the staff at Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng felt warm and genuine. Every time we returned to the hotel, we were welcomed with a smile, making the hotel feel more like a home than simply a place to stay.
What particularly impressed me was the hotel's use of WhatsApp to communicate with guests. Each day, the staff would check whether everything was going well and ask if we needed any assistance. This proved especially useful when we ordered several parcels to the hotel. After informing the team in advance, they gladly accepted the deliveries on our behalf, kept us updated as each parcel arrived, and either handed them to us personally or placed them in our room while we were out. It was a thoughtful service that gave us complete peace of mind.
Housekeeping was equally reliable, with the room cleaned to a consistently high standard throughout our stay. Overall, the friendly, approachable staff and proactive communication made the service one of the highlights of our stay.
Who This Hotel Is Best For
Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng is best suited to travellers who enjoy boutique hotels. Its stylish rooms, personalised service and central District 1 location make it an excellent choice for travellers looking for something a little different from the usual hotel chains.
I think this hotel is an excellent choice for couples, solo travellers and weekend visitors who plan to spend most of their time exploring Ho Chi Minh City. Its central location makes it easy to walk to cafés, restaurants and nearby attractions, making it an ideal base for sightseeing rather than staying in the hotel throughout the day.
However, I would probably look elsewhere if your priority is enjoying the hotel itself. Travellers looking for a swimming pool, gym, multiple dining options, or the full-service experience of an international hotel chain are likely to be happier elsewhere. Likewise, those planning a staycation or expecting resort-style facilities may find this hotel too limited.
Overall, I would recommend Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng if you appreciate boutique hotels, thoughtful design and an unbeatable city-centre location. If you are looking for a traditional full-service hotel experience, this probably is not the right fit.
Value for Money
For our two-night stay in the Deluxe Balcony City View Room, we paid approximately S$467. Looking back, I was not paying for a larger room—I was paying for the balcony and the opportunity to enjoy one of the best city views in District 1. Without those features, I do not think I would have considered the room worth the premium.
The room itself is comfortable, stylish and well designed, but it is the private balcony overlooking Park Hyatt Saigon and the District 1 skyline that makes this room category stand out. If you are already planning to stay at Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng and enjoy spending time taking in the city views, I think the upgrade is worthwhile.
On the other hand, if your priority is simply finding a comfortable place to sleep, I would probably save the money and book one of the hotel's more affordable room categories instead. The overall hotel experience remains largely the same, with the biggest difference being the balcony and the view.
Overall, I think Signature by M Village Hai Bà Trưng offers fair value for money, particularly if you appreciate boutique hotels and are willing to pay extra for the balcony and city view.
