Introduction
M Village is a Vietnamese hospitality brand that operates hotels and serviced apartments throughout Vietnam. Having launched in Ho Chi Minh City, the brand has since expanded into cities across the country, including Hanoi, Hoi An, and Da Nang. Comprising five different brands within its portfolio, M Village properties are designed with communal spaces in mind, allowing guests to socialise freely while still enjoying the privacy of their own rooms.

With numerous M Village properties spread across Ho Chi Minh City, it is relatively easy to find one that suits your preferred location. Compared to staying at a larger international chain, many M Village properties feel more intimate and closely connected to the neighbourhood around them. We booked a night’s stay at M Village Tôn Thất Đạm, situated right in the heart of District 1, within walking distance of Ben Thanh Market and mere steps away from the Michelin-starred restaurant, Anan Saigon.
Hotel Location
M Village Tôn Thất Đạm is located right in the heart of District 1, within walking distance of Saigon Centre and Nguyễn Huệ Walking Street. The hotel is also situated just a few buildings away from Anan Saigon, one of Ho Chi Minh City’s Michelin-starred restaurants.
For those looking to do some shopping, Saigon Centre houses a large supermarket alongside numerous cafés, restaurants, and retail stores. Right beside it is Saigon Square, which is better known for its more affordable shopping options. Grab cars and taxis are also readily available in the area, making the hotel a convenient base for exploring the rest of Ho Chi Minh City.
Check-In Experience
Check-in was completed quickly and smoothly. After handing over our passports, the process took about 5 minutes. We were then briefed on the hotel’s facilities and amenities, including the breakfast venue, before heading up to our room.

Throughout the check-in process, the staff remained friendly and welcoming, always greeting guests with a smile. Compared to some larger international hotel chains that can occasionally feel a little formal or distant, the atmosphere at M Village felt noticeably warmer and more personal. This was something we consistently noticed throughout our stay, with the hotel concierge team always appearing approachable and genuinely welcoming.
Check-out was similarly straightforward. After confirming that we did not require airport transport, we said our goodbyes and were soon on our way to the airport.
Room Review
Bedroom and Layout

The Deluxe Room measures approximately 28 square metres and feels surprisingly spacious upon entering. Positioned along the side of the room is the wardrobe, whose open-concept design provides plenty of storage for travellers with larger suitcases. A safe is also neatly tucked into one of the wardrobe shelves.

The room itself feels modern and cosy, with warm lighting creating a comfortable atmosphere throughout the stay. Located beside the bed is an armchair complete with a footstool, paired together with its own overhead lighting. It felt like a great little corner for some reading before heading to bed for the night.

Located directly beneath the television is a small table that can function as a makeshift workspace should you need to use a laptop. However, I personally found it slightly impractical for longer work sessions, particularly given its position directly in front of the television. The room’s lighting is also clearly designed to create a warm and cosy atmosphere rather than a productive work environment. Having said that, one should probably not be working too much during a holiday anyway!
Bathroom

The bathroom is split into three separate sections. The middle area houses the sink and vanity, which is where guests will likely spend most of their time washing up before bed or preparing for the day ahead. On either side are the toilet and shower areas, allowing both spaces to remain separate — something we always appreciate during hotel stays.
The room comes with a rainforest shower, which is always welcome whenever we travel. Toiletries are M Village-branded and were more than sufficient for our stay, while basic necessities, including toothbrushes and toothpaste, are also provided. That said, should you require anything extra, a convenience store is located just a short walk away from the hotel.

It is also clear that the room was designed with couples in mind, as the frosted shower glass leaves much to the imagination. From the bedroom, you can faintly make out your partner’s silhouette while they are inside the bathroom. Thankfully, a blind can be pulled down whenever additional privacy is needed.
Entertainment and Amenities
The room comes with complimentary bottled water, while teabags and coffee sachets are also provided for guests. Mounted on the wall is a large television that would likely appeal to travellers who enjoy streaming shows or watching YouTube videos during their downtime.

Rather than offering an extensive list of traditional television channels, M Village instead focuses on streaming services such as Netflix and YouTube. This likely suits modern travellers better, especially for shorter stays, where many guests may not even turn on cable television. Guests may sign into their own streaming accounts during their stay, although do remember to sign out before checking out!
WiFi connectivity throughout the hotel was also stable during our stay, and we did not experience any issues while browsing, streaming videos, or using our devices within the room.
Sleep Quality

The king-sized bed was genuinely comfortable, and we slept exceptionally well throughout our stay. On either side of the bed are switches and power outlets, although do note that the power outlets primarily support local plug types. International travellers may therefore wish to bring along a universal travel adapter.
Noise Levels
Our room faced the Saigon Centre, and we could faintly hear some of the street music while inside the room. While it was never particularly loud, lighter sleepers or those more sensitive to noise may wish to take note.
Thankfully, we did not experience any issues once it was time for bed, likely as the surrounding streets gradually became quieter later into the night.
Final Thoughts on the Room
Overall, we found the Deluxe Room to be comfortable, functional, and surprisingly spacious given the hotel’s central location in District 1. Between the thoughtful layout, cosy atmosphere, and convenient location, it felt like a practical base for exploring Ho Chi Minh City.
Facilities
Rooftop Swimming Pool

M Village Tôn Thất Đạm features a rooftop swimming pool overlooking Bitexco Financial Tower, arguably one of the hotel’s most visually impressive facilities. Complete with sun loungers and surrounded by greenery, the rooftop area feels like a relaxing little escape above the busy streets of District 1.
While the pool itself is slightly on the smaller side, it remains perfectly suitable for a short swim or simply soaking in the water while enjoying Ho Chi Minh City’s tropical weather. The rooftop views are especially impressive, with Bitexco Financial Tower standing prominently in the background — something that will likely appeal to guests looking to capture a few memorable photographs during their stay.

Gym
For guests looking to maintain their fitness routines while travelling, the hotel also houses a gym on the same floor as the swimming pool. Facing Saigon Centre, the gym is relatively simple but comes equipped with the essentials, including treadmills, weight machines, and a small dumbbell rack with weights of varying sizes.

Complimentary bottled water is also provided, allowing guests to rehydrate after their workouts. The gym’s large windows also provide views towards Saigon Centre, making the space feel slightly more open and less enclosed compared to some smaller hotel gyms.
Breakfast / Dining
Breakfast Buffet
A small restaurant located on the second floor serves breakfast daily for hotel guests. During our stay, we ultimately decided not to have breakfast at the hotel, as we wanted to explore the numerous cafés, eateries, and food stalls located around the property instead.
However, for guests who prefer a slower and more relaxing morning within the hotel itself, M Village Tôn Thất Đạm does offer a modest breakfast buffet each morning.
Before checking out on our final morning, we briefly headed up to the restaurant to take a look at the breakfast spread for ourselves. Despite the hotel’s relatively small size, we were pleasantly surprised by the variety available.

Most notably, there is a live egg station where guests may order eggs cooked to their preference. Helpfully, the hotel even provides a small illustrated egg menu, allowing guests to choose from sunny-side-up, over-easy, boiled, scrambled, and omelette options.
Those who require a more substantial breakfast in the morning (like me) will also be pleased to know that breads and pastries are available. During our visit, we spotted baguettes, chocolate croissants, and slices of white bread amongst the selection.

For the more health-conscious guests, there is also a small salad section complete with various toppings and dressings, while yoghurt and fresh fruits such as passionfruit, oranges, and watermelon are also available.

Drinks and Coffee
A coffee machine is available for guests looking to start their mornings with a hot cup of coffee, whether it be an Americano, cappuccino, or latte. More adventurous guests may also wish to try the Vietnamese coffee available at the breakfast counter.
Hot water and a variety of teabags are also provided, while sugar and condensed milk are available for those who prefer their drinks on the sweeter side.

Should You Add Breakfast?
While our room rate did not include a complimentary breakfast, guests may easily choose a room package that comes with breakfast included. Alternatively, those feeling slightly more spontaneous may simply head down in the morning and request that breakfast be added to their stay directly.
Service
Warm and Personal Hospitality
Service at M Village Tôn Thất Đạm was consistently warm and welcoming throughout our stay, from the moment we checked in until well after we had already left the hotel.
During check-in, the concierge staff were friendly and approachable, while also confirming my mobile number should they need to contact us during our stay. At the time, this felt like a fairly standard procedure. However, we would later realise that this formed part of the hotel’s broader approach towards guest service.
That evening, the hotel sent us a WhatsApp message to check if everything in the room was satisfactory and whether we required any assistance. Thankfully, we did not need any help, although we genuinely appreciated the gesture. It made the stay feel noticeably more personal compared to some larger hotels, where interactions can occasionally feel slightly more transactional.
The same warmth was present during our brief visit to the breakfast restaurant the following morning. Even after informing the staff that we were only there to take a look at the breakfast spread and did not intend to dine there that morning, they continued enthusiastically introducing the various food options available and warmly invited us to return another time should we wish to try the breakfast in future.
Thoughtful Follow-up Service
After checking out, we initially thought that concluded our stay at the hotel. However, shortly after leaving, the hotel contacted us regarding a piece of clothing that had been left behind in the room.
Interestingly, it was actually an old piece of clothing that we had intended to discard. Nevertheless, the staff still took the effort to contact us just to ensure that we had not accidentally forgotten it. Only after confirming that we did not require the item did they warmly bid us goodbye once again.
While this may seem like a relatively small gesture, it left a surprisingly strong impression on us. Moments like these often say far more about a hotel’s service culture than grand gestures ever could.
Final Thoughts on the Service
Overall, service was arguably one of the strongest aspects of our stay at M Village Tôn Thất Đạm. Between the warm staff interactions, personalised WhatsApp follow-ups, and thoughtful attention to detail, the hotel consistently managed to make us feel genuinely welcomed throughout our stay.
Interestingly, after staying at another M Village property later on, we realised that the WhatsApp communication system appears to be part of the brand’s wider service approach — something that helps give M Village hotels a noticeably more personal and approachable atmosphere compared to many larger chain hotels.
Who This Hotel Is Best For
M Village Tôn Thất Đạm is best suited for travellers who prioritise location, local atmosphere, and value over large-scale luxury facilities. Situated right in the heart of District 1, the hotel works especially well for guests who intend to spend most of their time exploring Ho Chi Minh City rather than remaining within the hotel itself.
The hotel also feels particularly suitable for younger travellers, couples, solo travellers, and digital nomads who appreciate a more modern and community-oriented atmosphere. Compared to larger international chain hotels, M Village properties generally feel more intimate and closely connected to the surrounding neighbourhood, which adds to the overall local experience.
Those who enjoy café hopping, exploring local eateries, or simply wandering around District 1 on foot will likely appreciate the hotel’s location very much.
On the other hand, travellers specifically looking for extensive luxury facilities such as a full-service spa, large resort-style swimming pool, or executive lounge experience may find that M Village Tôn Thất Đạm is not quite targeted towards that style of stay. Instead, the hotel focuses more on offering a comfortable, stylish, and well-located base within the city itself.
Pros and Cons

Warm and personalised service
Comfortable and thoughtfully designed rooms
Rooftop swimming pool with Bitexco views
Strong value for money
Cons
Smaller swimming pool

Value for Money
For a hotel located right in the heart of District 1, we found M Village Tôn Thất Đạm to offer genuinely strong value for money. During our stay, we paid slightly under S$100 for a night, which felt particularly reasonable considering the hotel’s central location and overall experience.
Importantly, the lower room rates do not necessarily translate into a compromised stay experience. Despite positioning itself as a more affordable boutique-style hotel, M Village still manages to provide many of the comforts travellers would typically expect, including a rooftop swimming pool, gym facilities, warm service, and thoughtfully designed rooms.
What stood out most to us was how balanced the overall experience felt. Rather than focusing heavily on luxury or excessive facilities, M Village instead seems to concentrate on the essentials that genuinely improve a stay — good location, comfortable rooms, modern amenities, and personalised service.
For travellers looking to stay within District 1 without paying premium international hotel prices, M Village Tôn Thất Đạm feels like a particularly compelling option.
Final Verdict
M Village Tôn Thất Đạm ultimately exceeded our expectations as a modern and well-located boutique hotel right in the heart of District 1. Between its warm and personalised service, thoughtfully designed rooms, rooftop swimming pool, and convenient location, the hotel manages to deliver a surprisingly balanced stay experience at a very reasonable price point.
What stood out most to us, however, was the atmosphere of the hotel itself. Compared to larger international chain hotels, M Village feels noticeably more intimate and closely connected to the surrounding neighbourhood, which gave the overall stay a noticeably more local and personal atmosphere.
Travellers still deciding whether Ho Chi Minh City suits their travel style may also wish to read our guide on whether Ho Chi Minh City is worth visiting for first-time travellers, where we discuss the city’s atmosphere, pace, food scene, and what type of travellers would enjoy the city most.
For travellers seeking a comfortable and affordable base within Ho Chi Minh City, particularly those who value location, convenience, and a more community-oriented atmosphere, M Village Tôn Thất Đạm is undoubtedly a hotel worth considering.
