We stayed at The Anam Mui Ne during a trip to southern Vietnam, where we were looking for a relaxing beach getaway without having to take another domestic flight. Mui Ne stood out as an attractive option thanks to its coastal location, laid-back atmosphere and relatively easy accessibility from Ho Chi Minh City.
Before this trip, we had never visited Mui Ne and knew very little about what the destination had to offer beyond its reputation as a beach town. However, one name kept appearing whenever we looked at accommodation options: The Anam Mui Ne. My wife had already heard of the resort, and its popularity on social media suggested that it was one of the most sought-after luxury resorts in the area.
After arriving at the resort, it quickly became clear why. With its elegant architecture, expansive grounds and direct beach access, The Anam Mui Ne immediately felt less like a hotel and more like a self-contained resort destination. Having paid S$626.97 for a three-night stay in a Deluxe King Room booked through Agoda, we were keen to find out whether it truly lives up to its reputation.
Hotel Location
The Anam Mui Ne is located along Mui Ne Beach, approximately three hours from Ho Chi Minh City by road under normal traffic conditions. While the resort is not located in a city centre environment, that is very much part of its appeal. During our stay, the resort felt pleasantly secluded, creating the impression of a private beachfront retreat away from the crowds.
Despite this sense of isolation, we never felt disconnected from the essentials. Several restaurants, cafés, convenience stores and massage outlets were located within walking distance of the resort, making it easy to head out for a meal or pick up any necessities.
Getting around Mui Ne was also straightforward. Grab was readily available throughout our stay, and we found there was no need to rent a scooter. While some of Mui Ne's attractions, such as the White Sand Dunes, are located 30 to 45 minutes away by car, in our opinion, many travellers are likely choosing The Anam Mui Ne as much for the resort experience as they are for Mui Ne itself.
In fact, apart from a tour and a few dinners outside the resort, we spent most of our three-night stay within the property. For travellers seeking a relaxing beachfront escape rather than a busy city break, we found the location to be an excellent fit.
Check-In Experience
We arrived at The Anam Mui Ne at approximately 4.30pm after a journey from Ho Chi Minh City. Upon arrival, the staff greeted us and escorted us to the lobby lounge area rather than asking us to queue at the reception desk.
After taking our seats, we were each offered a cold towel, a welcome tea and a selection of light snacks. The tea was a Pandu tea, accompanied by a small note explaining its origins, while the snacks consisted of four pink-coloured bite-sized pastries that were both unique and surprisingly delicious. After several hours on the road, the refreshments were a thoughtful touch and a pleasant way to begin our stay.
The lobby itself made a strong first impression. Designed as an open-air space, it felt bright, airy and expansive. From the lounge area, we could see the resort's main swimming pool, while the beach could be spotted in the distance beyond it. The view immediately reinforced the feeling that we had arrived at a proper beachfront resort.
The check-in process was efficient and largely handled from the lounge area. Our credit card details were processed while we relaxed, and we simply needed to sign the registration documents once everything was prepared. Before escorting us to our room, the staff also provided a brief introduction to the resort's facilities, including the swimming pools, spa, restaurants and breakfast arrangements.

First Impressions
Although the Deluxe King Room is the entry-level room at The Anam Mui Ne, it certainly did not feel like one. Walking into the room for the first time, we were immediately surprised by how spacious it felt. Measuring 40 square metres, it offered considerably more space than we had expected, while the open-concept layout made the room feel even larger.
From the moment we stepped inside, it was evident that the room had been thoughtfully designed. There was plenty of walking space around the king-sized bed, ample storage, a private balcony and a dedicated workstation, making it feel more like a premium room than an entry-level category.
Layout and Design
The room features an open-concept layout that strikes a good balance between style and practicality. The bedroom occupies the centre of the room, while a long wardrobe sits beside the entrance, offering both enclosed storage and an open section for hanging clothes and storing luggage. We found there to be more than enough storage space for our three-night stay.
Opposite the bed, a wall-mounted television sits above a cabinet housing a Nespresso coffee machine, complimentary bottled water and the minibar. We particularly appreciated having the coffee machine, as it allowed us to enjoy complimentary coffee in the room instead of ordering drinks with our room service.
The lighting was another highlight. Even at night, the room remained bright and welcoming without feeling overly harsh. At the same time, the multiple lighting options made it easy to create a softer, more relaxing atmosphere in the evenings.
Bathroom
One of our favourite features of the Deluxe King Room was its open-concept bathroom. Rather than feeling like a separate enclosed space, the bathroom blends seamlessly into the bedroom, making the entire room feel noticeably more spacious.
The freestanding bathtub acts as a natural centrepiece, while the standing shower and toilet are housed within their own enclosed rooms. This thoughtful layout provides privacy when required, making the room equally suitable for couples, friends or family members sharing the accommodation.
The double vanity offered generous counter space, while the shower delivered consistently strong water pressure with reliable hot water throughout our stay. Bathroom amenities included hotel-branded shampoo, shower gel, body lotion and hand soap, alongside wooden toothbrushes and the usual essentials. The wooden dental kits were a particularly nice touch, feeling sturdy enough to reuse throughout our stay rather than be discarded after a single use.
Balcony
Although relatively compact, the private balcony proved to be a useful extension of the room. Furnished with a high table and two chairs, it provided a pleasant place to enjoy some fresh air while overlooking the surrounding area.
Our room faced the road rather than the sea, but thoughtfully designed wooden privacy panels allowed plenty of natural light into the room while maintaining a good level of privacy. We even enjoyed one of our room service lunches on the balcony, which turned out to be one of the more memorable moments of our stay.
Comfort and Sleep Quality
Comfort was another area where the Deluxe King Room excelled. The king-sized bed was exceptionally comfortable, and we slept soundly throughout all three nights of our stay. Despite our room facing the road, the sound insulation was surprisingly effective, and we experienced very little external noise.
The air-conditioning also performed exceptionally well, keeping the room comfortably cool even during Mui Ne's hot afternoons.
Amenities and Technology
The room was equipped with everything we expected from a luxury resort. Wi-Fi remained fast and reliable throughout our stay, while the smart television provided useful information about the resort, including its restaurants, facilities and even a live view of the beach.
Power outlets were conveniently located on both sides of the bed, alongside additional sockets at the workstation, making it easy to charge multiple devices at the same time.
Should You Book the Deluxe King Room?
After spending three nights in the Deluxe King Room, we came away genuinely impressed. Despite being the resort's entry-level room category, it never felt basic or compromised. Instead, it offered generous space, a thoughtful layout and all the comforts we expected from a luxury beachfront resort.
Unless having a swimming pool or sea view is particularly important to you, we believe the Deluxe King Room already provides everything most travellers need for a comfortable stay. We would happily book this room category again on a future visit to The Anam Mui Ne.
Facilities
A Resort Designed for Relaxation
One aspect that immediately stood out was how thoughtfully The Anam Mui Ne had been designed. Rather than simply offering an impressive collection of facilities, everything worked together to create a relaxing resort experience where guests are encouraged to slow down and enjoy their surroundings.
Two Swimming Pools for Different Travellers
The Anam Mui Ne features two swimming pools, each catering to a different type of traveller.
Located beside the open-air lobby, the main swimming pool naturally became the gathering place for families. During our stay, we regularly saw parents relaxing while children enjoyed the water. Despite being the busier of the two pools, it never felt overcrowded thanks to its generous size, and there were always plenty of sun loungers available.
Our personal favourite, however, was the saltwater swimming pool overlooking Mui Ne Beach. Compared to the main pool, it offered a noticeably quieter and more peaceful atmosphere, making it particularly suitable for couples and adults looking to unwind. With Saigon Bar located just beside the pool, it was easy to imagine spending an afternoon relaxing with a drink while enjoying the surroundings.
We were also impressed by how well both pools were maintained. One evening, we even saw the resort staff carrying out maintenance work after guests had retired for the night, reinforcing our impression that the resort takes great pride in its facilities.
Direct Access to Mui Ne Beach
One of the biggest advantages of staying at The Anam Mui Ne is its direct access to Mui Ne Beach.
A dedicated walkway connects the saltwater swimming pool to the beach, making it effortless to move between the resort and the sea. Although we did not spend much time on the beach itself, we were impressed by how clean and peaceful it felt directly in front of the resort. The sand was soft, the beachfront was well maintained, and we did not notice any litter during our stay.
While neighbouring stretches of beach hosted various public activities, the beachfront immediately outside the resort remained noticeably quieter, giving guests a greater sense of privacy. Beach loungers and umbrellas are also provided, while we spotted several guests swimming in the sea and even a kite surfer making the most of the coastal winds one afternoon.
The Anam Spa
No luxury resort stay feels complete without a spa treatment, and The Anam Spa was undoubtedly one of the highlights of our stay.
We chose a two-hour treatment comprising a body scrub, massage and facial using Sothys Paris products. From start to finish, the experience felt polished, relaxing and thoroughly professional.
The therapists were warm and attentive throughout. In fact, my wife later told me that I had fallen asleep—and even started snoring—during the massage, which probably says more about how relaxing it was than any review could.
Guests also enjoy complimentary access to the sauna and indoor jacuzzi within the spa facilities. Although we did not use them because they are located within the separate men's and women's changing areas, they are a welcome addition for those looking to spend even more time unwinding.
If you are staying at The Anam Mui Ne, we would strongly recommend setting aside some time to experience The Anam Spa.
Resort Grounds
Beyond the individual facilities, we were equally impressed by the resort itself.
Beautifully landscaped gardens, open-air walkways and mature tropical greenery connect the different parts of the property, creating an atmosphere that feels both spacious and peaceful.
One small detail we particularly enjoyed was walking barefoot through parts of the resort. Moving from the fine sand near the beach, across the landscaped gardens and along the resort pathways somehow encouraged us to slow down and simply enjoy the surroundings. It was a small but memorable part of the overall experience.
Other Facilities
Beyond its swimming pools, beach and spa, The Anam Mui Ne also features a gym, children's club, boutique, multiple restaurants and bars.
Although we did not have the opportunity to use every facility ourselves, knowing they were readily available reinforced the feeling that the resort had been thoughtfully designed for different types of travellers, whether couples, families, solo travellers or groups of friends.
Our Thoughts on the Facilities
Looking back, what impressed us most was not any individual facility, but how seamlessly everything came together to create a complete resort experience.
Over our three-night stay, we naturally found ourselves spending most of our time within the resort—not because we had to, but because we genuinely wanted to.
For us, that is perhaps the greatest compliment we can give The Anam Mui Ne. It is the kind of resort where the holiday itself becomes the destination.
Breakfast & Dining
Breakfast Buffet at The Indochine
Breakfast at The Anam Mui Ne is served daily at The Indochine, the resort's all-day dining restaurant overlooking the main swimming pool. The restaurant offers both indoor air-conditioned seating and outdoor tables, creating a bright and relaxing atmosphere to start the day. While most of the buffet is located indoors, the outdoor area features two live cooking stations serving freshly prepared egg dishes and rotating Vietnamese noodle soups.
The breakfast buffet impressed us with both its quality and variety. Guests can expect a wide selection of freshly squeezed juices, seasonal fruits, yoghurt, pastries and breads, alongside Western favourites such as bacon, sausages, cheeses, cold cuts and smoked meats. There is also an extensive range of Asian dishes, including fried rice, stir-fried noodles, porridge, dim sum and a rotating selection of Vietnamese specialities that changes daily.
One highlight was the live cooking stations. Besides preparing eggs to order, guests could even request Eggs Benedict, while the noodle station alternated between local favourites such as chicken pho and egg noodle soup with char siew. Coffee is available from self-service machines throughout the restaurant, while traditional Vietnamese coffee and a selection of Dilmah teas are also provided.
Over our three mornings, we naturally gravitated towards different parts of the buffet. I generally preferred the Western breakfast, while my wife enjoyed trying the rotating Vietnamese dishes each morning.
Although the buffet initially felt very extensive, we gradually noticed that many of the international dishes remained largely unchanged from day to day. The rotating Vietnamese dishes certainly helped keep breakfast interesting, but we would have appreciated a slightly wider variety of protein-based hot dishes across multiple mornings.
That said, we still enjoyed breakfast every morning. For travellers staying two or three nights, we think the variety is more than sufficient and would recommend booking a room package that includes breakfast. For the typical two- or three-night stay, we never found ourselves running out of options.
Lunch at Lang Viet Restaurant & Bar
One afternoon, we had lunch at Lang Viet Restaurant & Bar, located beside the resort's saltwater swimming pool. The restaurant specialises in Vietnamese cuisine, with its menu divided into Northern, Central and Southern Vietnamese dishes.
We sampled several Central Vietnamese dishes together with Salted Coffee, and while the presentation, portions and service were all excellent, the flavours felt more restrained than we had expected.
Having spent considerable time in Ho Chi Minh City, where Vietnamese cuisine is often bold and intensely flavourful, our expectations were naturally very high. We suspect the dishes at Lang Viet have been intentionally toned down to appeal to a broader international audience. The food was certainly enjoyable, but it did not quite deliver the depth of flavour we had hoped for.
In-Room Dining
One of the pleasant surprises during our stay was the resort's in-room dining.
On one afternoon, my wife was feeling unwell, so we decided to enjoy lunch from the comfort of our room instead. She ordered the Vietnamese seafood congee while I opted for the BLT sandwich.
Both dishes exceeded our expectations. The seafood congee was comforting and flavourful, while the BLT sandwich—made with guanciale instead of the usual bacon—was generous, satisfying and accompanied by a large serving of fries. We enjoyed the meal on our balcony together with freshly brewed Nespresso coffee from the room, making for a simple but memorable lunch.
The food arrived in less than 30 minutes, and housekeeping quietly collected the tray later that evening during turndown service without us needing to make a separate request. It was another example of the attentive service we experienced throughout our stay.
Saigon Bar
Located beside the saltwater swimming pool, Saigon Bar proved to be a wonderful place to unwind.
We visited twice during our stay—once after breakfast and again on our final evening after dinner outside the resort. Surrounded by mature trees and tropical landscaping, the bar felt surprisingly private despite being located beside the pool.
Whether enjoying piña coladas during the day or mocktails on our final evening, we never felt rushed by the staff, even when we were the only guests at the bar. It became one of our favourite places to simply sit, chat and enjoy the peaceful atmosphere.
Our Thoughts on Dining
Overall, we came away with positive impressions of the dining experience at The Anam Mui Ne.
The breakfast buffet offers excellent variety for a typical resort stay, room service exceeded our expectations, and Saigon Bar provided the perfect setting to unwind after a day spent enjoying the resort.
Our only reservation was that some of the Vietnamese dishes served within the resort lacked the bold, vibrant flavours we have come to associate with Vietnam after spending considerable time in Ho Chi Minh City. However, this should not be mistaken for poor quality. The ingredients, presentation and service remained consistently excellent throughout our stay.
For guests staying two or three nights, we would recommend including breakfast in your room package while also venturing outside the resort for a few lunches or dinners. Several good local eateries are located within walking distance, allowing you to experience another side of Mui Ne's dining scene while still enjoying everything The Anam Mui Ne has to offer.
Service
A Team That Truly Cared
Service at The Anam Mui Ne was, for the most part, exceptional. Throughout our stay, we consistently encountered warm, professional and attentive staff who genuinely appeared to care about their guests' well-being.
The moment that best demonstrated this occurred when my wife unexpectedly became unwell after we had visited Saigon Bar one morning. After walking only a short distance, she suddenly felt faint and vomited. Almost immediately, nearby staff members noticed what had happened and rushed over to assist.
Their immediate priority was getting my wife back to our room safely. Within minutes, a wheelchair had been brought over, and several staff members helped escort her back to the room while another member of the team arranged for someone to assess her condition.
Shortly afterwards, a staff member, whom we believe had some form of medical training, arrived at our room to check on her. He measured her blood pressure, offered practical advice on helping her feel more comfortable, and later returned with a hot drink before checking her temperature again. When my wife unfortunately became sick again in the room, housekeeping was promptly arranged to clean everything without hesitation or complaint.
What impressed us even more was what happened the following morning. The same staff member recognised us during breakfast and immediately asked how my wife was feeling. It was a small gesture, but one that made us feel genuinely cared for rather than simply looked after.
For us, this single incident encapsulated the service culture throughout the resort. The staff were not merely carrying out their duties—they showed genuine compassion when we needed it most.
Professional Throughout the Stay
Beyond this memorable experience, service remained consistently excellent across every department we interacted with.
Our check-in was handled efficiently from the comfort of the lobby lounge rather than standing at the reception counter, immediately creating a relaxed and welcoming arrival experience. Throughout the resort, the staff at the restaurants, bars, spa and housekeeping were consistently polite, approachable and professional.
Housekeeping maintained our room to an excellent standard each day, replenishing bottled water and amenities without fail. Every evening, the team also carried out turndown service, leaving a pair of chocolates waiting for us when we returned to our room—a thoughtful touch that we always looked forward to.
Room service was equally impressive. Our lunch arrived in less than 30 minutes, while the tray was quietly collected later that evening during turndown service without us needing to make a separate request.
We were equally impressed by the team at The Anam Spa. Every interaction felt warm and professional, and one of the therapists even remembered my wife from her hair treatment the previous day, greeting her warmly during our next visit.
One Disappointing Exception
Unfortunately, our otherwise outstanding experience ended on a disappointing note during check-out.
Unlike every other interaction we had throughout our stay, the staff member handling our departure came across as noticeably abrupt and detached. There was very little warmth in the interaction, and the entire process felt surprisingly transactional. After I approached the counter to check out, the conversation moved almost immediately into collecting the room key and processing payment, without the welcoming hospitality we had experienced consistently throughout the rest of our stay.
At first, I wondered whether this might simply have been a language barrier. However, after mentioning the incident to my wife later, she shared that she had experienced a similarly cold interaction with the same staff member earlier in our stay when asking for recommendations on nearby seafood restaurants. That led us to believe it was more likely an individual issue rather than a communication issue.
To be fair, the staff member did smile and bid us farewell as the transaction concluded. Nevertheless, because check-out is the final interaction guests have before leaving a hotel, the experience left a noticeably different impression from the warmth and attentiveness we had experienced throughout the rest of our stay.
Our Verdict on the Service
Despite the disappointing check-out experience, we have little hesitation in saying that service remains one of The Anam Mui Ne's greatest strengths.
The warmth, professionalism and genuine care shown by almost every member of staff consistently exceeded our expectations. In particular, the compassion shown when my wife became unwell is something we genuinely appreciated and will remember long after our stay.
For that reason, we believe the check-out experience reflected one individual rather than the service culture of the resort as a whole. While we hope the hotel addresses this inconsistency, it does not change our overall impression that The Anam Mui Ne delivers service of a genuinely high standard and hospitality that left us feeling well looked after throughout our stay.
Who Should Stay Here
One of the things we appreciated most about The Anam Mui Ne was how well it caters to different types of travellers. Throughout our stay, we saw couples relaxing by the saltwater pool, families enjoying the main swimming pool with their children, groups of friends gathering over breakfast, and guests simply unwinding by the beach. We found three nights to be the ideal length of stay. It gave us enough time to explore some of Mui Ne's attractions while still enjoying everything the resort had to offer, from the beach and swimming pools to the spa and restaurants.
That said, two nights would also work well for travellers planning a long weekend getaway. Mui Ne is relatively compact, making it possible to combine sightseeing with plenty of time to relax back at the resort.
Our Recommendation
If a friend asked us whether they should stay at The Anam Mui Ne, our answer would be an easy yes.
The resort offered excellent value for the overall experience. While it sits towards the higher end of the market in Mui Ne, the spacious rooms, extensive facilities, beachfront location and consistently high service standards make the price feel well justified.
More importantly, The Anam Mui Ne delivers exactly what we believe a beachfront resort should: a place where you can genuinely slow down, switch off and enjoy your holiday. We paid S$626.97 for a three-night stay in the Deluxe King Room, with daily breakfast included. Looking back, we would happily pay that price again.
What makes The Anam Mui Ne such good value is not any single aspect of the resort, but the overall experience it delivers. From the spacious and thoughtfully designed room to the beautifully maintained facilities, direct beach access, attentive service and excellent spa, every part of the stay contributed to making the resort feel worth the price we paid.
Even after factoring in our one disappointing check-out experience, we never felt that the resort had fallen short of our expectations. On the contrary, we left feeling that we had received excellent value for money, particularly considering the quality of the accommodation, breakfast and facilities included in our stay.
If the same stay were priced at around S$300 per night, we would still consider it a worthwhile luxury resort in Mui Ne. At the price we paid, however, we think The Anam Mui Ne represents particularly strong value and would have no hesitation booking it again for a future visit.
