As an Accor Plus member, I am accorded a free night’s stay at any of Accor’s participating hotels in the Asia Pacific. All I need to do is find a participating hotel, check for availability, and book it! It’s that simple!
And so, as usual, we left the free night’s stay until it was almost too late, and I started to panic a little, worrying that there would be limited hotels left to book our free stay. My Accor Plus membership was expiring at the end of July, and it was already March. Those who know understand that by March, it might be getting too late.
For the unaware, the free stay should always be made at the most expensive hotel available, simply because it is more value-for-money for your membership. Consider Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa and Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre. Both are great hotels under Accor, but they are targeted at different audiences and are priced differently as a result. While a hotel stay at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa could cost upwards of S$500 a night, a stay at Mercure ICON Singapore City Centre rarely exceeds S$200 plus. Hence, one should definitely aim for a stay at the most expensive hotel available.
I quickly did a check on the mobile app, scanning through the dates for a stay at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa until I managed to find an available date on a Thursday. On 10 March 2025, for a top-up of S$60 (S$71.94 after taxes), we got a night’s stay at the Luxury Garden View room.
For reference, we checked the cost of booking an identical room on the Accor App. For an Accor Plus member, the cheapest Accor Plus - Saver Rate for a Luxury Garden View room costs S$529.84 (inclusive of taxes). This rate was non-refundable, and the room cost was payable at the time of booking. For the Accor Plus - Mobile Offer that has a more relaxed cancellation policy (no cancellation charge up to 7 days before arrival), it costs S$540.95, just slightly more expensive. This rate is the same as the complimentary rate we received from Accor Plus, where there would not be any cancellation charge up to 7 days before arrival.
TL:DR
Quiet and peaceful part of Sentosa
Beautiful swimming pool
Great dining options
Spacious open-concept Junior Suite
Service:
Service was good throughout our stay at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa. After arriving at the hotel via a Grab, we headed straight to the check-in counters. It was quite busy as we saw other guests in the midst of checking in as well. After a short wait, it was our turn. To our surprise, we found out that we had received a complimentary upgrade to a Junior Suite! Wow, we were very grateful to have received such a happy surprise! The staff mentioned that such an upgrade would usually cost approximately $200 or more, but they were able to offer one to us at no charge. Score!
During the rest of our time at the hotel, everything went well. The service at breakfast was excellent, even when there was a huge crowd the next morning. Every staff member was able to handle every guest, ensuring that all our needs and wants were met. Reserved tables were kept reserved, coffee and tea were served promptly, and all the tables were cleared quickly to welcome the next round of guests.
That evening, we were planning our checkout the next day as I had a meeting in the late afternoon. We tried to request a late check-out and managed to snag a 1 pm late check-out. Even though the hotel was busy, we were definitely appreciative of the late checkout accorded to us. Great!
Checking out the next day was also smooth, with everything completed within one minute. Upon confirming our room number and that we were checking out, we were informed shortly after that the checkout was completed. Voila!
Hotel Facilities:
Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is famous for its swimming pool, which sits in the middle of the property. The large pool is surrounded by plenty of sunbeds and a pool bar. Guests can enjoy a dip, while their partners can do some reading while sipping on an iced beverage. During our stay, we saw many families soaking and playing about in the pool. Serious swimmers can make use of the closed lane that is marked for swimmers to do laps in. It is a welcoming pool for everyone to enjoy.

Food:
Breakfast at Kwee Zeen:
Kwee Zeen, Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa’s main restaurant, serves up a mean buffet breakfast every morning. During our stay, we managed to wake up early enough to grab some breakfast at the restaurant.
They had quite a large variety of pastry options that included croissants, doughnuts, and danishes. Waffles, pancakes, muffins, and brownies were also served. Those preferring plain flour can opt for the different types of bread available and make use of the assortment of jams served. There was a small area for gluten-free options, where items like pastries, cookies, and cereal were served.
Cold cuts, cheeses, and smoked salmon were served and were consistently topped up to ensure guests could enjoy all the meat, cheese, and salmon they wanted. Butter was also provided for guests to indulge. Those preferring something sweet can look forward to the honeycomb, which tasted divine.
There are a few types of salads for guests to enjoy, with different toppings and dressings for guests to customise their breakfast. Muesli and yoghurts are also available, so guests can really have a healthy breakfast first thing in the morning. Those opting for a more traditional breakfast can grab some milk and cereal, all available at the buffet.
A live egg station is present for those who are choosy about the way their eggs are cooked. I always love sunny side-ups, and there were plenty available on the tray to scoop a couple of them up. There were also hard-boiled eggs available for those who enjoy the simplicity in life. Those wanting a little pizzazz can request poached eggs, soft-boiled eggs, or omelettes with their own customised ingredients.
Conventional Western options include the usual baked beans, sausages, bacon, cherry tomatoes, and hash browns. I know I was a fan of that food. Asian food lovers can get some fried rice or chicken teriyaki. There is also a local food option, where guests can make their own nasi lemak. Essentially, all the ingredients are already there, and they can take as many ingredients as they wish. The all-essential sliced cucumbers are served as well. More Asian food could be found near the dining area, as a live noodle station awaits customers, while Chinese dim sum and baos are offered. I always love a few siew mais. Indian food items, including masalas and sambar, are also available.
Finally, some sweet treats are available to send guests off in the best possible manner. Fresh fruits, such as bananas, longans, oranges, and cut watermelons and honeydews, are provided. One of my favourite desserts, the bread and butter pudding, is served near the entrance. I made sure to walk back to the entrance area to get myself a serving of this delicious dessert.
Coffee is provided by Nespresso, with large commercial machines sitting in the middle of the restaurant awaiting orders. Fret not if you feel intimidated. Staff are always stationed at the machines to take coffee orders. Simply let them know what you would like, and they will whip one up on the spot. For those who are wondering, tea is available as well!
LeBar:
During our stay, we managed to dine in Le Bar, their al fresco lounge in the middle of the property. We had not had lunch yet and were famished by the time we checked in. Hence, we decided to enjoy some light bites at the lounge before having supper later on that night. We also wanted to make use of our complimentary welcome drinks, so we figured we might as well have a meal there.
The welcome drinks menu comprised both alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks, and as we do not drink, we opted for coffee and juices instead. And so, we got a Lungo (from Nespresso) and a glass of mango juice. For those curious, the welcome drinks included options like sodas, juices, coffee (by Nespresso), and tea (by TWG). On the alcoholic front, expect a limited selection of beers, wines, sparkling wine, cocktails, and mocktails. All in all, a very reasonable and, in fact, generous selection of complimentary drinks.
After we got our drinks ordered, they soon arrived, with some complimentary chips and olives to accompany the drinks. We then ordered the Sofitel Club Sandwich and satays to share. I love club sandwiches, and whenever I have the opportunity, I will try to order a hotel’s club sandwich.
The food was sublime! The club sandwich was incredibly delicious, and the fries went perfectly with the chilli sauce and ketchup. The staff had already cut the sandwich into two halves, so we took one half each to enjoy. The chicken meat and egg were very freshly cooked, and all the different ingredients were mixed together to form a very delicious mess. As I took every bite, some of the sauces and juices spilt out, and my hands were soon covered in a variety of sauces. That is how you know you are enjoying a delicious sandwich. Mayonnaise, lettuce, tomatoes, bacon, egg, and chicken meat formed the insides of this sandwich. I loved every single bite I took of this club sandwich. Before long, we finished it. It was that good.
Next, we tried the satays, which comprised a mixture of beef, mutton, and chicken satays. The satay sauce was on another level altogether. It was simply perfect. The nuts were almost completely crushed, so you do not see huge chunks of nuts in the sauce. Instead, the nuts were also mixed into the sauce. It was sweet and tasty. When we dipped the satay into the sauce, I made sure to have a large mouthful of sauce with the satay, so it almost resembled a broth/gravy with the meat. Those were soon cleared as well. To enjoy more of the satay sauce, all the diced cucumber and cut onions were dipped into the sauce. Basically, the entire plate was left devoid of all its contents in no time. It might sound a little controversial, but I think these satays might be tastier than Singapore Airlines’ famous satays. I will want to come back here to enjoy more satays.
Overall, it was a great meal, even though it was just supposed to be a light afternoon bite. We sure did not regret it, though, as we left LeBar completely satisfied. A great start to our staycation at Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa!

Room:
Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa has four categories of suites, starting from its Junior Suites. Measuring 55 square metres, the open-concept suite is a welcoming category for those seeking more space in their rooms. Those preferring more space and privacy can opt for the Prestige Suite, which is the next category. With 64 square metres of real estate, the separate bedroom and living area should be enough for most couples. (Check out our review of the Prestige Suite here!) The Prestige Family Suite has slightly more space at 77 square metres, and suits, as you guessed it, families. The final category would be perfect for those who love expansive spaces. The Imperial Suite measures 190 square metres, larger than the vast majority of people’s homes in Singapore. With this much space, you can be assured that shouting after a goal was scored in a football match cannot be heard by your partner resting in the bedroom.

Back to the Junior Suite. It is an open-concept suite, which means that there are no doors separating the living room and bedroom. Instead, there are open spaces in lieu of a physical door. If you are a couple, this should be of no consequence. There is still a door to the bathroom.
At the Junior Suite, you first enter a lobby of sorts, as the Junior Suite could be connected to another room. This would be perfect for families, where everyone could enjoy the vast spaces of two rooms connected without the need to tap in and out of rooms. Once you enter the Junior Suite proper, you will see the living room. A large wardrobe sits on one side, with two built-in luggage racks on either side. The wardrobe has some hangers and the usual amenities, with bathroom slippers, bathrobes, an umbrella, an iron, and an ironing board all inside.
A comfortable sofa that fits two, three if you snuggle, sits in the middle of the room facing the wall-mounted television. A large leg rest/coffee table lies in front of the sofa so you can rest your food, drinks, and feet on it. A lounge chair is further on the side, so you can slowly rock yourself to sleep while your partner works on the workstation situated behind the sofa. Complete with a telephone, fragrance, and a table lamp, we could be talking about working hours nonstop on this table. Be warned!
As if that is not enough, your partner will be kept awake by the caffeine options available in the room. Nespresso coffee capsules, TWG tea bags, and Davidoff coffee sachets are available at the minibar area. The minibar itself offers a variety of drinks, ranging from the usual Coca-Cola and Sprite to Tiger beer, with small bottles of still and sparkling water also provided. Snacks are also available, so your partner can keep working while munching on those cashew nuts and Pringles.
The bathroom is a beauty, with enough space to fit both a bathtub and a standing shower. The bathtub is admittedly a little small, but that should not be an excuse for anyone seeking a well-needed soak. Amenities such as dental kits, cotton buds, cotton pads, nail file, and a shaving kit are all provided. They also offer a body mist, so you can always look and feel your best. Unlimited drinking water is supplied via a filtered water tap. Gone are the days when you need to call the concierge to get more bottled water. Toiletries are provided by Balmain, consistent with what the other Sofitel hotels usually offer. The standing shower has a rainforest shower in addition to the hand shower, so it should please all types of guests. I definitely enjoyed standing below the rainforest shower as the water continuously blasted down from the top. The toilet does not have a bidet, for those wondering and considering a stay at this hotel.
The King-sized bed sits in the middle of the bedroom, with lots of space around the room. The bedroom’s television is similarly mounted on the wall, leaving lots of room to walk about. The suite’s master switches are on one side of the bed, while the other side only has one control of that side’s reading light and a wall socket. Think carefully which side to sleep on!
The entire suite is covered in parquet flooring, which makes you feel almost at home. With individual carpets covering some parts of the bedroom and living room, it feels like your own home, which can be great when staying in a hotel. We definitely enjoyed walking on the parquet surface.
Overall, the Junior Suite was a very lovely room type, and we enjoyed our one-night stay here. It is well-known that Sofitel Singapore Sentosa Resort & Spa is pricey, and we were blessed to have managed to snag a complimentary night here. Add to the fact that we got a further upgrade to the Junior Suite, and it was the icing on the cake.
If you are planning a special occasion, you should definitely consider staying here. The property’s privacy and distance away from Sentosa’s main attractions are advantages, as it is almost like a private beach resort far from the masses. Even though this property has been in Singapore for many years, it is still one of our favourites.
