During the year-end period in 2023, our family decided to head up to Kuala Lumpur for a vacation. As we would stay in the city for a few days, we wanted to stay somewhere convenient and affordable. As with most families, the elderly prioritise affordability and focus less on the perks and luxuries of five-star hotel chains. We researched and came across Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, located in the middle of the city. A search shows it is just across the street from KL Sentral, which has a direct train service to KLIA. It is also where many trains connect to other parts of the city. Simply put, it is a hotel conveniently located in the heart of the city. We decided to go with this hotel and booked a stay here!
TL:DR
Affordable stay with beautiful rooms
Great service
Great facilities
Convenient location
Service:
The service was pleasant and great. True to Malaysian hospitality, every staff member was polite and happy to assist with all our requests and queries.
We are happy to report that there were no issues during our stay and that we had a fantastic time at the hotel.
Hotel Facilities:
Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral has a beautiful rooftop pool with a bar. We headed up briefly in the evening to check out the view during our stay. Needless to say, it was beautiful. As it was the last day of the year, the hotel was also preparing for the year-end party. We could catch a glimpse of the hotel crew preparing for the party. Funnily enough, we saw a hotel guest still swimming in the rooftop pool while hotel staff members were placing balloons on the pool.
The hotel gym is located on the lower floors and has similarly stunning views. During the day, you can see a lot of greenery amidst the skyscrapers, which is pleasing to the eyes. The gym is also open 24 hours a day. Of course, we only had time to head to the gym to snap pictures.
Something unique about Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral is the Re:mix lounge on the first floor. They were screening football matches via a large projector and I chanced upon a live game one evening. I see how friends could enjoy an evening catching a football match together. The hotel also has a play area suitable for children. Filled with comfortable seating and lots of children’s toys, it is a great place for them to unwind while the parents can rest just for a little while.
Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral has a convenience store, Re:fuel by Aloft, that can be very helpful for hotel guests. Stocked with various snacks and drinks, it is basically a huge minibar that comes with affordable prices. As it was during the Christmas period, it was also selling festive treats.
Room:
For our time at Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral, we booked a stay in its Breezy Suite. Measuring 61 square metres, it is a very comfortable suite with 1.5 bathrooms. When you first enter the suite, you are greeted by a large dining area, followed by an equally large living area.
The dining area has a dining table with four chairs, and plenty of drinking options are provided. Besides a coffee machine that uses capsules, it provides two sachets of grounded coffee beans for your French Press needs. The suite also provides a French Press so hotel guests can enjoy a delicious cup of coffee. For the traditional folks, you can always rely on the Nescafe sachets to brew a tasty cup of coffee. Teabags are provided by Jaf Tea, a tea company that originates from Sri Lanka. This way, you know you are getting a proper cup of tea. The beverages in the minibar are complimentary for guests of the Breezy Suite. It is replenished once a day, so you can go ahead and enjoy the orange juice, sparkling water, and Pepsi. Multiple bottles of mineral water are also provided in the suite, so you should not feel dehydrated.
The living area has two very large sofas that seem to be designed for families. Facing the television, it is ideal for families to hang around in the living room before heading to the dining area for a meal. It also has some great views of the surrounding skyscrapers. Of course, families can also choose to stay silent and stare at the television the whole day.
The bedroom is comfortably large while still feeling cosy. Perhaps it is due to the warm lights, but it gives you a cosy feeling that makes you want to snuggle up in bed the entire day. It has a wall-mounted television as well, so you can indeed do that. There is a workstation that faces the windows, so you can only concentrate if you choose to work during your vacation. The workstation also has various wall plugs, so you can connect your laptop to the correct plug, and the content will appear on the television. Simple! On one side of the bed, it comes with a wall plug and two USB-A plugs, so make sure you know where you want to sleep.
The final part of the suite is the bathroom, and we consider it a separate part of the suite. The wardrobe is nicely designed and is part of the bathroom, which somehow makes the bathroom really huge. The wardrobe spreads almost the entire length of the dining area and has so much space that hotel guests can fill it up with a week’s worth of clothes. Note that there are also drawers where you can put your home clothes. An iron and ironing board are available, and the safe is built-in as part of the wardrobe.
While the suite does not have a bathtub, it has a large, colourful standing shower. Brightly coloured with multiple colours, it gives you positive vibes each time you step into the shower. This may have been designed with families in mind so children can volunteer for a shower! DryBar, an American company, provides toiletries. We used the toiletries and did not face any issues. We liked the lingering fragrance after a shower. We enjoyed using them.
The bathroom has double vanity sinks, so no one has to wait or pick a fight first thing in the morning. Add to that the spaciousness of the bathroom, and you are unlikely even to touch when you walk past each other.
Overall, it was a very enjoyable stay at Aloft Kuala Lumpur. We booked a stay during the year-end peak period and still got a very affordable rate despite that. The staff were friendly and always helpful. Its central location makes it a dream for travellers. No matter where you come from, you can quickly locate the hotel. The airport is just one train ride away, while Petronas Twin Towers is also one train ride away. With affordability, convenience, excellent service standards, and nice facilities, Aloft Kuala Lumpur Sentral has everything! This is the go-to hotel for travellers who want to book an affordable and convenient stay in Kuala Lumpur!
