VINCOM LANDMARK 81 SKYVIEW
Picture
Vincom Landmark 81 is the newest skyscraper in Ho Chi Minh City, with its observation deck, Skyview, opening only on 28 April 2019. Consisting of a shopping mall (Lamborghini and Bentley car showroom anyone?), hotel, luxury apartments, and an observation deck, this building surpassed Bitexco Financial Tower as the tallest building in Ho Chi Minh City, as well as the entire country. As of June 2019, it is also the tallest building in Southeast Asia, and the fifteenth-tallest building in the world!

An interesting anecdote of this skyscraper is the fact that it was designed by British company Atkins, who also designed the world-famous Burj Al Arab! The design of this building was said to be inspired by the traditional bamboo bundle, where in local culture, symbolises strength and unity.

The observation deck is located right at the top of the building, spanning from floors 79 to 81. The three-storey observation deck helps in crowd control, since visitors can walk around the different floors to get the same view of the city. The unique selling point of the observation deck is the fact that it has one fully-functioning lounge that serves coffee and alcoholic beverages, as well as a premium Japanese restaurant. Take note that the lounge has outdoor seating as well, which really gives one a fantastic view of the entire city!

From the base, the building looks really beautiful. It is modern and sleek-looking, which gives it a “wow” factor. Frankly speaking, we spent some time outdoors taking numerous pictures of this skyscraper. From the top, you get amazing views of Ho Chi Minh City. In fact, you get a great view of the city centre, including the 2nd tallest building in the city, Bitexco Financial Tower. You might be surprised to see how small the buildings look, which really shows how tall Vincom Landmark 81 is, although the distance from this building to Bitexco Financial Tower also plays a significant part.

We were fortunate to arrive in Ho Chi Minh City just as this observation deck was opened, and enjoyed ourselves at the top. Be sure to put this skyscraper on your to-do list when you are in the city!
