Saigon Central Post Office is one attraction in Ho Chi Minh City that is constantly flocked to by tourists. Built in 1891 as the city’s post office, it has withstood the test of time and continues to be the city’s main post office.
Of interesting note are the two maps located on either side of the interior facade. Apparently, they were painted when it was first built, and are actually maps of telegraphic lines in Vietnam and Cambodia in 1892, and Ho Chi Minh City in 1892, respectively. We are not too sure about the accuracy of this anecdote, but it sure makes the maps that much more interesting to look at!

In case you have not realised yet, this post office is a fully functioning one, while continuing to cater to the throngs of tourists passing through. In fact, it is a common thing to buy a postcard and some stamps, and mail it back to your family and friends. We did it ourselves and really quite enjoyed it. Our family also enjoyed receiving a postcard all the way from Ho Chi Minh City!
Take some time to enjoy the architecture amidst the crowded walkways, and capture a picture of yourself in this 100-year old building!
